Is Switching From Rytary To Stalevo Safe?

Hi. My husband was on Stalevo, then switched to Rytary about two years ago. The financial cost is horrible and he is considering switching back to Stalevo. Wondering what you think about this, or if you know of other Parkinson s drug(s) that you would recommend. Thank you.

Hi,

Rytary and Stalevo contain essentially the same primary drug that is Carbidopa/Levodopa with the addition of entacapone in Stalevo.

You can safely switch back to Stalevo. If there is no prior hypersensitivity to entacapone, but the dose of Levodopa needs to be adjusted when switching back from Rytary to Stalevo in consultation with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
