Is Swelling In The Toe A Symptom Of An Infection?

Hi. A few day I pulled out and ingrown toe nail. The next day I want to the pool with some friends. The day after the pool trip the area where the Ingram was started swelling so I put neosporin on the wound and icey hot around the base of my toe to help with the pain. Over the next 24 hours the area with the ingrown has stated to swell and just a few hours ago puss and blood started coming out. Is my toe infected?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

After pulling out the ingrown nail, it is very common for the area to get infected especially if the trigger has been contact with swimming pool water. Neosporin is a good cream to apply at least 3 times a day in the affected area, but you will also need some oral antibiotics like Tab Azee once a day for 3 days.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
