Is Surgical Repair Of Fractured Bone With Plates And Grafting Advisable?

I have a fracture in my right upper arm bone. After applying plaster for two and a half month, the doctor is now prescribing a surgery with plating and grafting. How to decide the repercussions of it in terms of the side-effects and its success rate?

Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Any limb fracture should be relocated and repaired appropriately because non-repair of fracture can lead to nonalignment and deformity of the limb. Open reduction (repair) and internal fixation with screw and plates are the permanent treatment of any fracture. It is having high success rate and associated with few complication due to exposure to surgery and anesthesia. So I advice you to get your fracture repaired with plating.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.
Thank you.
