Is Surgery Necessary For The Broken Greater Tuberosity?

Hi, I tripped up a carpeted step, fell hard on my shoulder and broke my greater tuberosity. Is been 12 weeks now and my arm still has not healed. I have osteopenia and I am 70 years old. Since there has been no healing will surgery be necessary? I m still experiencing pain but have been doing physical therapy and my range of movement has gotten better. For your response, Elaine in St. Louis

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you broke you greater tuberosity before 12 weeks .You still experiencing pain but your range of movements improved. In my opinion there will not need of surgery, only physical therapy is needed but final decision can only be taken by seeing fresh x-ray. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care
