Is Substituting Althea With Yaz Advisable In Between The Course Of Medicine?

I ve been taking Althea pills for 2 months now. It s my second pack and my pimples got worse. I used to take Yaz before, but I switched to Althea. Is it okay to switch back to Yaz even if I haven t finished the 21 pills of Althea? It s my 2nd month on the pill, and I have consumed 4 pills already. So there s still 17 pills left. Is it okay to just stop taking it and start with another pill (Yaz)?

Hello,

If you do not find your medicine to be effective, had I been your physician, I would have advised against switching to Yaz before completing your Althea course. Your menstrual cycle may be disturbed as both medicines have different combinations.

If you have still not changed to Yaz then I'd advise to finish off Althea first and then start taking Yaz. You should also consider consulting your doctor if your acne remains the same.
