Is Sporadic Intake Of Clonazepam Harmful?

I have a prescription for clonazepam 0.5MG that I take only AS NEEDED if I am feeling anxious. I was reading the medication guide about making sure you take it every day at the same time and too not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. I have discussed this with my doctor I dont need it all the time, can taking this sporadically be harmful to my health, sometime I feel like I have a fast or more rapid heart beat throughout the week when I am not taking it, could this be why?

Well sporadic intake of Clonazepam is not advisable because it belongs to group of drug called benzodiazepine whose abrupt and sudden withdrawl /discontinuation or random intake can some times cause serious adverse effects like siezures, pounding heartbeats, confusion, bleeding or behavioural disorders.I will advise you if you are really benefitted from this medicine then you must take it on regular basis, you can keep it on lowest possible therapeutic dose(0.25 to 0.5mg).Hope it helps you in better understanding.
Thanks
