Is Sharp Pain In Back With Swollen And Painful Injury Post An Accident A Cause For Concern?

hi there, I got washed over rocks from big surf a week ago, after 5 days it got really swollen and painful, lots of bruising coming out, been having voltaren and improfen, can t sleep very well on one side and my back, getting sharp pains like tearing, the injury is a big area covering a quarter of my lower back, could I have done more serious internal damage ??

Hello,

Your injury seems to be a major one. You need to continue taking pain medications. You can go MRI spine to know if there is any serious injury to spine. You can also have ultrasound imaging of abdomen and pelvis to know any organ damage.

Most probably it's only the back muscles and tendons that might have been injured. So you don't need to worry. Alternate cold and hot application to the site of injury would help with pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
