Is Severe Pain In Back Post A Popping Feeling While Lifting Weight A Cause For Concern?

Yesterday I was lifting something heavy and had a popping feeling and sound it did it 3times and the last time was the worse i dropped to my knees and laid in the grass for a few min cause the pain was so bad now today its really sore and hurts really bad i even feel it in my chest i can still walk and do things but it hurts with every lil movement esp if i twist any kinda way sometimes it takes my breath away like im short of breath
Does this sound like anything major ??
Will i make it worse if i go to work ? (my line of work is physical and im very dependant on my back )

In such case you have to give some time so that injured site can be healed and failing to which may lead to some serious problem.
Long lasting muscle injury may also lead to some serious deformity
