Is Right-sided Lower Back Pain Related To Kidney Disease?

My mom is 85 years old and complaining of pain on her right side under her breast area. More towards her back (I guess under her arm area) She is diabetic and takes thyroid, water pills, has history of heart disease. Wondering if the pain could be kidney related. She has taken massive amounts of ibuprofen over the years.

Hello,
It could be from the kidney but she really needs to see a doctor for blood tests, urine tests and an exam to sort this out. It could also be shingles, or liver or gallbladder disease. In some cases heart disease may also cause right sided pain.
Regards
