Is Regaine 5% Solution Recommended For Hair Loss For Females?
Hi Doctor, I am a 30 year old female with huge hairloss since past 3 months. I have been advised to use Regaine 5%. In the note found in Regaine box, i saw that 5% solution is not recommended for females (increases facial hair etc.). Can you please advise if i should use Regaine 5% solution?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. In general, 2% Minoxidil is used for female pattern hair loss and 5 % minoxidil is used for male pattern hair loss. However, depending on the grading of hair loss, some dermatologists start with 5 % solution and then reduce the strength to 2% after 2 months. I would personally start females with 2% solution due to the possibility of unwanted facial hairs with 5%. If you are still in doubt, please check with your doctor as to why 5% was prescribed and whether he/ she plans to reduce the dosage later depending on your response. Hope this answered your query. Take care.
