Is Redness Around Anus Caused Due To Loose Stool And Improper Wiping?

My 4 yr old daughter has had a cold for about 4 days. Today, there is a large circle around her anus that is really red and she says it hurts bad. No itching. No vaginal redness. Could this be from a virus or maybe loose stool and improper wiping or something else? What relief can I give her?

Hi, from your history I can make out that there is following possibilities:
1.your daughter might have been given antibiotics and because of it she got loose motions. Frequency of stool can cause constant irritation to the baby's tender skin which lead to redness around anus.
2.Improper wiping can cause irritation of the anal skin lead to redness of the skin.
3.Use of soiled diaper for a longer period can cause irritation lead to redness .
For the relief of it u can use petroleum jelly to soothe the skin and to relieve redness u can use triple combination mild steroid+antifungal+antiseptic cream.
if still u don't find relief then i m ready to consult you further.
