Is Pregnancy Possible While On Birth Control Pills Despite Taking Plan B After Intercourse?

I have had problems with getting my cycle to come on since February. I recently went to an obgyn about 2 weeks ago. She gave me provera and some birth control pills.. 2 days ago me and my boyfriend were at it and the condom popped. I took a plan b later that day and my usual prescription of birth control. Am I liable to get pregnant or see my period ?

Hi,

First of all, do not panic. If you are already on birth control pills, please continue taking them as suggested.

Emergency contraceptive pills work best to prevent pregnancy, if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual activity. In my opinion you have taken it rightly. You have very minimal chances of getting pregnant.

You can expect your menses or withdrawal bleeding to occur soon. Withdrawal bleeding is quite erratic after emergency contraceptive pills. It can be early or late and it can be scanty or heavy.

Please get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy, if you cross your expected date of periods by 5 to 7 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
