Is Pregnancy Possible Through Intercourse During Ovulation?

Last Period: June 1, 2017 to June 7, 2017 Ovulation period: June 11, 2017 to June 17, 2017 Ovulation day: June 16, 2017 Expected day for her period to come: June 30, 2017 So here, we have an unprotected intercourse last June 12, 2017. It was quick and just less than or equals to 2 minutes. Now, this day (June 14, 2017), my girlfriend reported me that she is experiencing pain in her stomach as well as she is experiencing vaginal bleeding (color is red according to her). I have checked the internet for this situation and stress, hormonal imbalance, ovulation, and miscarriage are the causes for this. It is impossible to be an implantation bleeding since it usually starts 7-10 days after the ovulation. So, what could it be? It s too way too early for her to start her period since we are expecting it to arrive on June 30, 2017, which is 16 days from now. Is she pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Chances of pregnancy is high if intercourse happens during that time, as it is known as fertile period. Sperms can survive for about 48 to 72 hours in the uterus and there are chances of fertilization if ovulation occurs during this time.

Implantation would certainly take about a week following fertilization.

Bleeding what you are highlighting about could be caused due to ovulation or due to other causes like cervicitis or presence of uterine polyps.

Kindly wait for the due date. If there is delay in getting periods, you need to take a urine pregnancy test and consult Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

If the spotting continue to occur in between, she needs clinical evaluation promptly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
