Is Possible Papilloma In Throat A Cause For Concern?

Hi, I have recently undergone vocal cord surgery to remove a growth. After the surgery the doctor informed me, he thought it was a papilloma. I wasn t given much more information, and having done some research myself I am now petrified. Is this something that will be with me for life? Will i have to have multiple surgeries? Or can I overcome the virus? Please help I am so scared my life is over. I dont drink or smoke and am relatively healthy.

Hi dear ,

Well as per your query your doctor told you that you had papilloma in your throat . The Papillomas of the throat is also known as papillomatosis of the throat . Although its a per cancerous condition but some times turned in to malignancy , so time to time evaluation is very important . The papilloma that is removed during the surgery should sent to pathology lab for proper examination and to know if there is any kind of malignant tissue . There are vaccines available like HPV Gardasil vaccine which prevent its further occurrence , i would suggest you to discus it with your doctor . Also there are better treatment options available like KTP LASER which can be use alone or along with the surgery . So consult your doctor again and discuss the above options .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
