Can a person who has suffered from polymyositis in his childhood can get it again in future and does it can affect the muscles of the person if he doesn t do regular exercise in future. Does he need to do regular exercises throughout his life. Im experiencing weakness in my wrists and hands even after 15 years. Is that normal??
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Polymyositis causes chronic inflammation and can result in recurrent symptoms in form off weakness and pain. There is no rule that the disease will not affect second time and many individuals continue to suffer repeatedly.
Regarding exercise I do not think there is any harm to continue exercise irrespective of its benefit in polymyositis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
