Is Pepper Harmful To The Baby During Pregnancy?

is pepper harmful to the baby during pregnancy? My husband and I love peppper but some women have discouraged me from it, saying that pepper tends to "burn" the unborn babies skin. Is this true?

Hello and I hope I can answer your question.

Spices and other foods do not affect the baby- they only affect your digestive tract. You may find that your stomach is more sensitive and you may have more difficult digestion during the pregnancy, but nothing you eat will hurt the baby in any way. The baby feeds on blood from the placenta, it cannot taste what you eat and is protected inside the amniotic sac.

I hope my advice reassures you and you and your husband enjoy your spicy food

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
