Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What could be the cause of my pelviectasis? I had an ultrasound the other day and there were no stones found inside my kidneys, right kidney was found to have had mild pelviactasis. Ive had UTI before and currently had a urinalysis test as well, the findings were that I had UTI again. Could the cause for my pelviactasis possibly be the UTI?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
Pelviectasis is dilatation of kidney pelvis which is mainly caused by some abnormality of kidney development in the fetal stage.
Recurrent kidney infection is likely to stimulate the pathology to transform into actual disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
