Is Pain Under The Ribcage A Symptom Of Kidney Or Pancreatic Cancer?

I have some mild pain or soreness under my left rib it comes and goes sometimes I go two days without any discomfort. My doctor said it may be the cartilage under my rib. I am healthy and normal weight . 59 year old female. Do you think it s kidney or pancreatic cancer

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

On the basis of what you have described, it is unlikely to be a kidney or pancreatic cancer. I think it is due to weakness in the bones with any strain in muscle attachment to rib causes microinjuries and pain. Start pain killers, muscle relaxants and get bone densitometry test done.
