Is Pain In The Site Of Testicle Removal Long After The Procedure Normal?

My son had a testicle removed when he was 15 months old. It never descended and possibly had a torsion in utero. He had severe pain after surgery, and ended up with a nasty infection. That healed, and about a year later, the incision opened again and a stitch popped out. Since then, he complains on and off of pain qt the incision site. Tonight the pain appears real bad, and when we ask him where it is, he points directly at his scar. Is this normal? He is five years old now. He seems to be having some trouble standing on his left leg from the pain. Thank you for your advice! From q grateful concerned mom

Hi,

I want you to consult a surgeon and get him examined thoroughly. Sometimes children do it to gain attention. It doesn't mean you should neglect it. You can be free from worry once he is thoroughly checked. It's not normal to have pain at the scar area of any surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yasam Lavanya,
