Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having pain in L foot, middle toe. I have some degenerative joint disease Assoc. With my age(65) the pain is moderate a little red to touch and is painful even when neither moving or touching, it is a different pain than pain I am used to, could this be gout?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, this can be gouty arthritis. Swelling, Redness in small joint of foot is more seen with gout. So get done serum uric acid level. If this is elevated then it is gout and you will need protein free diet and febuxostat drug too reduce hyperuricemia. If uric acid is normal then get done x ray of foot because you are already having degenerative arthritis. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
