Is Pain Behind The Knees Related To Osteoarthritis And Varicose Veins?

Hi, My mum has pain at the back of her knee, she is having lot of pin and it is extremely difficult for her to walk. pain, swelling alot. Nothing seems to work for her, neither the compression bands nor any analgesic, seems to be an issue of osteoarthritis and varicose veins. She is 61. No medicine seems to be working. She took Daflon 500 yesterday and today she fainted because of dizziness and with upset stomach. What should she take?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, varicose veins do not pause significant pain over back of knee; possible issue with nerve compression at back of knee is most likely as sural or tibial nerve. Kindly get her MRI of the knee done and get back with the report, so that better guidance may be curtailed out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
