Is Oral Surgery Advisable Post Bracing Of Teeth?

hi, my teenager has an adult tooth that did not come down and is now shifted over his front teeth in his mouth, the primary is still in place. The dentist told me he needs braces BEFORE the oral surgery. They made me get a con beam scan, not covered by insurance. The surgeon said ok lets schedule your surgery. I said I thought he had to have braces first. To me it sounds stupid to get surgery AFTER braces. I am looking for guidance on which should be done first. The original dentist is not even ortho either so im alittle concerned

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your query it seems that your child has retained milk tooth due to which the permanent tooth could not erupt to its regular position and has been shifted to other position..

You did not specify what exactly is the reason for which oral surgery is advised or the reason for bracing the teeth..

What I suppose from your question is that the oral surgery is advised to remove the displaced permanent tooth and bracing if the teeth are not aligned due to retained milk teeth..

I would suggest you that before initiating any treatment you should see an oral surgeon first to find out whether the displaced permanent tooth can erupt if the deciduous tooth is removed or if the permanent tooth needs to be removed..

Followed by this only braces can be placed if needed..

I would suggest you to see an oral surgeon first..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
