Hi, Deodorants or antiperspirants are designed for underarms use and come in solid, liquid (roll on) and aerosol forms. They are usually minimally toxic. They contain aluminium compounds with a fragrance or essential oil which are used to reduce sweating. The aluminium compounds in deodorants or antiperspirants can be mildly irritating to the stomach and intestines. Oral intake of deodorant may cause minor oral irritation, GIT upset, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, respiratory distress etc. If your child is not having any symptoms, give a drink of water to wash the deodorant or antiperspirants down to the stomach and observe for the symptoms described above. You should be concerned and taken necessary steps for hospitalization immediately if your child experiences these symptoms like persistent or continued vomiting, diarrhea or coughing. Take care.
