Is On And Off Bleeding Between Periods While On Mirena Normal?

Hi I have a mirena from last year April. Bleeding on and off which takes about 8 to 10 days. My periods stopped for 3 months after April this year and started again since August , similar to when it was inserted first. Concerned about some fowl smell as well. Muscle ache and feeling very weak this morning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
In between bleeding alongwith foul smelling might suggest that there might be some kind of infection.
I would like to advice you to consult your gynecologist so as to examine the cause of infection and also removal of the mirena if required.
You will also need course of antibiotics depending on the cause of infective agent.
Hope it answers your query.
Thank you
