Is Numbness In A Toe Due To Knee Inflammation?

i am currently undergoing treatment for a knee injury - physical therapy Aleve twice a day, ice packs heating pads etc. this morning I noticed that the left side of my big toe on my left foot is completely numb. is this because the inflammation in my knee is causing a pinch nerve somewhere? I am away on business should I go to urgent care?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, pinching of nerve around knee joint can cause numbness in foot and toes. If numbness is tolerable then no need to visit emergency room. But if numbness is more and associated with severe pain and immobility of foot then immediately consult orthopedic doctor. Continue ice packs, warm water pad application and painkiller drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
