Is Normal Delivery Possible While Having A Fibroid In Posterior Lower Uterine Wall?

Hi , I m 36 weeks pregnant. My USG report says cephalic foetus presentation but a fibroid measuring 6.2 into 4.6 cm lies in posterior lower uterine wall. It is away from the internal os and is seen to originate just inferior n medial to the lower edge of placenta. Is my normal delivery possible?? Plz tell me as i don t want a c section.

The likelihood of fibroid complicating your labour is quite low. There is a chance of red degeneration of fibroids around 22wks but in late stages this is also less. Fibroid have no affect on actual uterine contraction. As this is away from the os the chance of blockage is also minimum during delivery. But there is a chane of preterm labour. This can also be an occasional problem as the womb contracts slightly more slowly due to the presence of fibroids so that there may be an increased loss of blood after delivery.
So depending upon the growth of fetus, health condition of mother and the progress of the labour the decision has to be made by the physician whether to go for a cesarean section or not. However healthy fetus following normal delivery in a mother with fibroid uterus is also quite normal.
