Is Non-penetrative Sex Advisable While On Treatment For Chlamydia?

Hi! I have been treated for chlamydia 7 days ago. The medication was azithromycin. My question is, if I gave oral sex to someone who didn t have chlamydia, within those 7 days, but didn t receive it, should I be treated again? Or should they be treated? Or both?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Whenever you are being treated for sexually transmitted disease like Chlamydia, yourself and all the sexual partners needs to be treated at the same time.
You need to abstain from all forms of sexual activities till the course of medication is over.
Otherwise, there is always a risk of re-infection or failure of the treatment, leading to spread of infections and landing up in associated complications.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
