Is My Persistent Lack Of Bowel Movement Dangerous?

I have not had a solid bowel movement in going on 3 weeks, is this something that could be due to diet (I'm a college student, and don't always have the most regular diet, but that is nothing new), or is there something more serious I should be concerned about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms can be related to the diet. Another possible cause can be irritable bowel syndrome. I suggest using daily probiotics.

I also recommend using an over the counter option like Imodium to stabilize the gastrointestinal tract. I suggest to drink liquids and use a plain diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
