Is Linear Scar Versus Atelectasis Of The Left Lung Base A Serious Concern?
greetings. I have had recent breathing broblems (I was diagnosed with moderate COPD due to some asthma symptoms in 2017) following a bronchitis-like illness and the x-ray results stated: Findings: Linear scar versus atelectasis of the left lung base is present. A normal cardiomediastinal silhouette without acute airspace disease, effusion, or pneumothorax is identified. Impression: 1. Negative for acute cardiopulmonary process. I don t understand all of this, especially the term versus concerning atelectasis. Any insight into the meaning of the medical jargon would be very helpful. Thank you.

Is Linear Scar Versus Atelectasis Of The Left Lung Base A Serious Concern?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Atelectasis is loss of aeration from part of lung. It may be due to retained secretions etc. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
