Is Lack Of Vitamin B-12, Causes Loss Of Strength In Arms And Legs?

Hi I have a friend who is 74 and recently had a cauliflower type cancer removed from his bladder and had been feeling pretty good. Last night and this morning he had episodes where he gets a chill and he loses strength in his arms and legs and has fallen each time. Could he be lacking in B-12?
