Is Krill Oil Safe For Patient With Hypertension?

I m confused about Omega 3 supplements. Some resources say not to use krill oil, some say don t use any OTC supplements only the prescription strength and only if Triglycerides are 500. I have hypertension, elevated cholesterol [total chol, LDL and low HDL], obese and family hx of stroke. Kim

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it is all about cholesterol and triglycerides levels. You can take only if your figures are really high. Otherwise, you can take periodically, but never during hot days. If you leave in tropical country, should discuss with your doctor for the most appropriate time to use it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
