Is It Safe To Use Simvastatin For Lowering Cholesterol?

I've been on Simvastatin several years now. My LDL particle test just came back and I have the small particle type. My NP wanted me to have a stress test which was normal and switched me to 10mg of Crestor. My cholesterol is 200. LDL and triglycerides need to be a little lower. My concern after doing lots of research is being on a statin. All of the info out there is so confusing. One article says yes and the next says no. Please advise on the safety of these drugs.

Hello. Thanks for asking Healthcare Magic. You have now been put on another statin i.e ROSUVASTATIN 10mg. Statins are usually the first line drug for lowering cholesterol. They are safe with lesser side effects. I would suggest to take crestor 10 mg for a month or so and then get your lipid profile done. Hope ths helps. If you have any other queries/question please feel free to ask. Thanks and wish you a healthy life.
