Is It Safe To Take Vicoden To Treat Fibromyalgia And Severe Arthritis?

Hello, I have been taking Vicoden 5-300 mg 2 tablets twice a day for over a year. I want to wean down but am afraid of any severe withdrawls. I take it for my Fibromyalgia pain and Severe arthritis in my upper arms. I am also on Trazadone 150 mg at night and Ambian to help with my sleep issues. I just want to see if I can get through this with the least amount of pain and discomfort. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is best to consult a healthcare professional before making any changes to your medication regimen, including weaning off Vicoden. They can provide individualized recommendations and monitor your progress.

Abruptly stopping any opioid medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms, so a gradual reduction under medical supervision is generally recommended. Other alternative pain management options for fibromyalgia and severe arthritis should also be discussed with your healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
