Hello dear user of HCM! Thank you for asking us and sharing your concerns! Glycomet (Metformin) is a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes, especially when the patient is overweight. There is no clear evidence for pregnancy problems or fetus deformations while using this drug, anyway you should consult with your gynecologist or the doctor who has prescribed that. It is advisable to use Insulin instead of oral anti-diabetics during pregnancy, when the mother is overweight, because the risks for fetus malformations are lower. After birth metformin (glycomet) should be quit, and start another drug, since it passes through the milk and the baby may take the drug too.
