Is It Safe To Take Cortisone Shot On Buttocks Instead Of Right Arm?

I had a cortisone shot today for my right arm, they gave the shot to me in my butt cheek, why not give the shot in my right arm? They told me at my Drs office they don t give the cortisone shots right in the muscle area either the belly or butt cheek. My arm is still hurting me.

hello there,
cortisone the drug needs to enter your system to be of effect. It enters it either ways if it's injected on your arm or your butt . The drug is deposited at its area of injection and it is taken up by your blood and after it attains a certain level it has it's effect that treats your shoulder. The reason some doctor or nurse may prefer the butt cheek is because a) there is a lower chance of injury to neighbouring structures there. B) The absorption of cortisone around the butt is better.

hope this helps
