Is It Safe To Take Azithromycin And Doxycycline At The Same Time?

I have a question. The doctor prescribed me two different antibiotics. Azithromycin and Doxy-cycl Hycl. He told me to take azithromycin for a week then start the Doxycycl. When I went to go pick them up, the pharmacist told me to take both the same day different times. I tried calling my Dr but they are already close. What is the correct way to take these antibiotic?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain both Azithromycin and doxycycline are antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.

Azithromycin belongs to a group of antibiotics known as MACROLIDE ANTIBIOTICS and is commonly used to treat respiratory infections, sexually transmitted infections, skin and ear infections,

Doxycycline belongs to tetracycline group and is commonly used to treat gum infections, eye infections, UTI,stomach infections, chlamydia etc..

As you have not explained the infection for which you have been given the following antibiotics the intake depends completely on the prescription by the doctor.

You can take the medicines only after the proper consultation with your doctor so i would suggest you to start only after proper advise with the doctor as the medication depends on the type of infections and severity.

Hope your query is solved..
