Is It Safe To Substitute Niacin ER Tablet With Niacor?

Presently take niacin ER tab 1000MG and have been notified by ins co drug will double in price to $95 in Jan. I am unable to tolerate statins, and the drug ins company suggests is Niacor. Will I be safe to switch to this med? Have 2 stents, an AAA, thyroid disease, athersclorosis, and osteoporosis. Take levothroxin,plavix, amlodopine, bystolic, vitamin and calcium supplements.
