Is It Safe To Ride A Bicycle While Suffering From Chest Pain?

I get chest pain when exerting riding my bicycle, typically at the start of a long ride, avg 20 mile ride. The pain subsides quickly under less strenuous riding. I’ve been to a Cardiologist and even been fitted with a 24 hour monitor with no cause diagnosed. Is it safe to continue riding.? Are there possible dietary causes, e.g., coffee? Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

When the cardiac evaluation is not conclusive, the chest pain is exertional for various reasons.

Can continue bicycle riding, but I think you should figure out the level of exertion without chest pain to be maintained on daily basis, rather than going for a 20-mile ride.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
