Is It Safe To Increase The Dosage Of Promethazine Syrup For Cough?

On Friday I was diagnosed with Type 1 & 2 flu with sinusitis. I was prescribed Tamiflu and a Z Pak along with Promethazine syrup (1 tsp) twice per day. My cough hasn t gotten any better. Can I increase the amount of cough syrup? If so, by how much? I m 59 B F. I weigh 200 lb.
