Hi, My twin daughters are 8 year old now. Doctor have given DPT II Booster,Typhoid and MMT vaccine at the age 5 . Recently we moved to USA from India. when we went to hospital to get yellow card to join the school. we have noticed that vaccine report does not have date. Nurse said try to get report from india. if not we will give vaccines again. My question Is it OK put same vaccine twice? is it harmful? Thanks Ramkumar M

Hello Mr Rajkumar,
Typhoid vaccine is given every three years so your daughters are already due at 8 years if they have got one dose at 5 years.
As such there is no harm in giving them DPT & MMR vaccines again even if they have completed their schedules at five years, but usual side effects of vaccines may occur, like pain at the site of vaccine for several days in case of DPT and measles like illness after MMR. Incidence of serious side effects is very low for all of them.
Ensure that your children are not allergic to any of these vaccines and have not developed serious side effects to any of the previous doses.
Hope this will be helpful.
Thanks for your question.
