Is It Safe To Give Mucolite Syrup For Severe Cough In Children?

Hi,My kid is 2.3 months old and he is coughing very badly. It started with cold 2 days back for which we avoided any medicine and the same is not much now but developed into coughing now and its too early in the morning to get his doctor s appointment. Although, we have his Mucolite syrup from the last time he had some trouble but we are not sure to give it before meeting a doctor but now since he is coughing badly so would like an advice whether we can give him Mucolite syrup and if yes, how and in what dosage. Thanks in advance!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As your child is very small and he is also having history of cold also. Therefore it seems, better, if he is first examined by a pediatrician for any throat or chest involvement by direct examination before giving any medicine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
