Is It Safe To Drive Under Heavy Medication For Pain?

I have a shifted vertebra and surgery scheduled in a few weeks. I am in a lot of pain and am on heavy pain medication. My pain medication is managed by a different doctor than my surgeon. While my pain doctor does not want me driving on the medication my surgeon doe snot understand and said I should be able to drive as your MRI s do not show I am in immediate danger . I think my surgeon being from a different country does not seem to understand and is upset that I have questioned him. I think it is not right he say I can drive as I feel too spaced out, it is heavy medication

Hello
You are having shifted VERTEBRA and it require surgery .
Now about driving under pain medication .
Tow different opinion.
If any pain medication contains any ingredients which produces any type of sedation or dizziness ,you should not drive because driving may develop further aggravation of sedation and dizziness.
2nd point is that you are having shifted vertebra and when you will sit upright on driving seat , naturally this will further aggravate shifted vertebra and it will deteriorate .
So these two reasons are sufficient that you should not drive .
Good luck.
