Is It Safe To Become Pregnant When Diagnosed With Ovarian Cyst?
Hi, I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks at the end of January. After my miscarriage, my doctor found a cyst on my left ovary. She thought it would go away with a few healthy menstrual cycles but it has not decreased in size at all. I want to try to conceive again soon but was told to wait for the cyst to go away. Is there any danger in becoming pregnant while having an ovarian cyst? Thank you, Jessica
Since you are diagnosed with ovarian cyst, most treating doctors prefer observation, ultrasounds, and monitoring. ideally the cysts go away on their own. It is better to conceive when the cyst disappears though most cysts are harmless and do not cause any pain.
But sometimes, they may cause pain during pregnancy and rupture causing pain, bleeding or torsion. You should report to your treating doctor if you have pain, bloating or experience abdominal bloating. You may need urgent medical support.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
