Is It Safe To Administer Ventalin To An Infant For Severe Bronchiolitis?

Hi my gp has advised it is ok to administer ventalin to my 18 month old every 2 hours when he has severe bronchioloitis and difficulty breathing. I ve done some research and seen the potential side effects for ventalin and am a little concerned. Should I be or is it ok to give it so often in severe cases?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Yes,ventorlin can be given in children although it has some effects.

You can give your child as per the dosage set by your GP for the severe bronchiolitis but ideally i would suggest you to see paediatric doctor to calculate the exact dosage for the children as per his weight.

The side effects are minimal and less common in children like tachycardia, tremor, giddiness or headache,so no need to worry about this.

Yes,he will also require antibiotic in proper dosage to get rid off bronchiolitis.

Regards,
