Is It Safe For Pregnant Women To Be Around A Person Undergoing Radiation Treatment?

My mother will be going through treatment (either chemo or radiation - not sure yet). My sister in law is 4 months pregnant. Can she be around my mom? And, once the baby is born and mom is still going through treatment, will she/he be able to be around her?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There is no problem to be around her except that she should not be near her (strictly not allowed) while the X-Ray or CT scan is being done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
