Is It Possible To Have HIV Infection Post Protected Intercourse?

thank you for this opportunity. i had sexual intercourse with a sex worker. i used a condom properly. but am scared that i might have contracted the HIV virus. the internet is telling me that a condom can only provide 85% protection. and it is also telling me about HIV symptoms. my lymph nodes are not swollen, but i had two night sweats in the past three weeks. this is my fourth week after possible exposure. And also how soon can i get tested? your medical opinion will help me greatly.

Hello,

The condom provides good protection if the condom was not broken. Anyway if possible do the HIV test if passed four weeks from intercourse.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
