Is It Possible To Control BP Level By Exercise And Diet Instead Of Medication?

I m 37 years old and have been told by the doctor my blood pressure on average through the day is 155/89. He said to start medication and has given me a prescription for 150 irbesarton. I did say I want to try to lower it through exercise and diet but he said that will not bring it down and scared me into thinking I will have a stroke or something else nasty. Can blood pressure be brought down without medication?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes BP can be lowered by small exercise & diet chances, but these are advised alone when you have slight increase in Blood pressure( upto 140/85).
As you have moderate high blood pressure you are advised to start the medication & along with it you could exercise & reduce the salt intake in diet.If you BP remains controlled in future, the medication can be stopped.

Refer to your physician
Hope this information helps
