Is It Normal To Have Pain In The Area Scratched Due To Itching?
9 days ago my ankle was itching so I used the side of my shoe of my other foot to scratch it. The friction caused a rug burn type irritation. Now the area is partially scabbed over and still very painful. There have been no other irritations to the area since and the skin is normal colored around the wound. The skin does not ooze, it s just very painful. Is this normal?
Hello Thanks for posting at HCM. Usually 9 days is enough time for a superficial scab to become painless. But as it is ankle, the pain might be persisting due to constant movement while walking. Also make sure your footwear or edge of your clothing is not brushing at the same site. Please clean the area gently with lukewarm clean water and a soft cotton piece and make sure no dirt or other particles are left behind. You can apply a mild antiseptic cream at the site for 3 days. If still the pain is persisting do consult a dermatologist and get the area looked at. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
