I recently went to my PCP complaining of extreme fatigue, unusual weight gain (10 lbs. in 5 months), occasional difficulty with swallowing, frequent headaches (some migraines), numb hands and a stinging in my throat that radiates to my ears whenever I sing or talk overly much. After examining me, he told me that my thyroid was enlarged. My lab results for my thyroid just came back normal (TSH 1.2 and Free T4 1.17). Now I m thoroughly confused about how I can have an enlarged thyroid and all these funky symptoms and still have normal labs. My doctor s office closes early on Fridays, so I can t call and ask anyone. Is it common to have a palpably enlarged thyroid, an eclectic list of weird symptoms and still have normal levels of TSH and T4??
