Is It Normal To Have A Red And Black Area After Skin Tag Removal?

I just recently got a skin tag removed on Wednesday. It was in the pubic area. It was flat and round almost the size of a dime and about as thick as a dime too. The doctor said it would be good to remove it because of the discoloration of it, a bit pinkish color. They had to put two stitches in it once he cut it off and he said it was a bit deeper and bigger than it looked from the outside. Anyway today is Saturday and the two little white strips he put on it fell off. I was wondering if the way it looks is normal or not. It has a lining of red around it. Black inside and white slimy looking stuff inside as well. I am not sure if the black is just dried blood or what. I put peroxide on it and it foamed up pretty good inside. It just feels bruised in the area but doesnt sting or anything. Is this normal?

hello. i have read your question and understand your concern.

the red and black areas are not so much worrisome but the white slimy looking stuff is. that white slimy stuff can be pus. which means that your wound might be infected.

i suggest you follow up with your dermatologist and get it examined. in case infection is present i normally prescribe a penicillin group antibiotic like amoxycillin-clavulinic acid combination for 7 days. also you can get a pus culture sensitivity done.

hope this has solved your query.for further queries please write to us. thanks.
